Two Arrested in J&K Bank Dachhan Theft Case as Kishtwar Police Recover Over ₹14 Lakh

Kishtwar, Feb 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kishtwar have successfully solved the theft case involving J&K Bank in Dachhan. They arrested two suspects and recovered a large part of the stolen money.

SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir, said that on February 3, 2025, the Branch Manager of J&K Bank Suid, Dachhan, reported a theft of ₹19,51,600. The police quickly registered a case (FIR No. 01/2025) and started an investigation.

To investigate the case thoroughly, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, led by ASP (OPS) Kishtwar, Sh. Nisar Khoja. The team, which included Dy.SP PC Dachhan, Sh. Sumit Bhagat, and SHO PS Dachhan, Insp. Harjeet Singh, collected evidence and reviewed CCTV footage. They found that the theft happened during the night of February 1-2, 2025.

As the investigation continued, the police questioned several suspects. Through hard work and analysis, they identified and arrested the main suspects:

  1. Mohd Yasin, son of Ghulam Nabi, from Krossa, Sounder
  2. Bilal Ahmed, son of Mohd Ramzan, from Lidhri, Dachhan

During questioning, both men admitted to their involvement in the theft. Based on their information, the police recovered over ₹14 lakh of the stolen money. The investigation is still ongoing to find the rest of the money.

The suspects tried to destroy evidence by burning their clothes, shoes, and the bag that held the stolen cash, but the police acted quickly to preserve important evidence.

SSP Kishtwar assured the public that the police are dedicated to ensuring justice and keeping the district safe. He encouraged people to stay alert, install CCTV cameras at their homes and businesses, and report any suspicious activities to help reduce crime in the area. More arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation continues.
