Udhampur, 28 Feb: A 52-year-old woman Shano Devi, and her son Raghu died in a tragic accident in Mongri, Udhampur district, late Thursday evening. The accident happened when a large stone fell from a hill and hit their motorcycle, killing them instantly.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:45 PM. Local people saw what happened and quickly informed the authorities.
A police official said, “We received reports from locals that a stone had fallen from the hill and hit a motorcycle with a mother and her son, resulting in their immediate death.”
The victims have been identified as Raghunath, son of Badru, and Shanu Devi, wife of Badru. Their bodies have been taken to the Primary Sub Centre (PSC) in Mongri for examination.
The Udhampur police have registered a case and started an investigation to find out more about the accident. The community is in shock and mourning the loss of the mother and son, reminding everyone of the dangers of falling stones in hilly areas.
