Jammu 07 March:  Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, has announced that all schools must install CCTV cameras in their buses to keep students safe. This new rule must be followed by March 31, 2025.

The decision comes as parents and officials are increasingly concerned about the safety of children while they travel to and from school. The CCTV cameras will help monitor the behavior of drivers and bus attendants, making sure that students are safe during their rides.

Starting April 1, 2025, enforcement agencies will check if schools are following this new rule. Schools that do not comply will face penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.

“This is an important step to ensure our children’s safety,” said Mahajan. “Having CCTV cameras in school buses will help prevent any bad behavior and give parents peace of mind.”

The Transport Commissioner also stressed the need for schools and transport agencies to work together to make this happen. Schools are encouraged to act quickly to meet the deadline.

Parents have welcomed this initiative, saying it will help keep their children safe. Many believe that having cameras will make bus staff more responsible.

As the deadline approaches, schools in Jammu and Kashmir are urged to install CCTV systems in their buses. The Transport Department is dedicated to ensuring that all students can travel safely to and from school.
