On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spoke to students, encouraging them not to be satisfied with what they have achieved. He said that feeling content can stop them from reaching a bright future.

He was speaking at an event to honor top students at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College. The event also marked the fourth death anniversary of former MP Satyadev Singh. Sinha, who is from Uttar Pradesh, praised the National Education Policy (NEP) for helping students explore their interests and abilities.

Sinha mentioned how important it was for India’s famous mathematician Ramanujan to study what he loved. He urged teachers to help students think creatively and go beyond old limits to come up with new ideas.

He also talked about combining science with cultural values to make India stand out in the world.

Sinha criticized the lack of change in education policies for 34 years, saying it held back students and stopped new ideas. He reminded everyone of India’s past economic success, noting that in the 11th century, India made up 33% of the world’s economy. However, repeated invasions reduced this to just 4% by 1950.

Sinha said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s economy is growing again, reaching a 15% share of the global GDP in 2023. But he stressed that we shouldn’t stop there. He encouraged increasing trade to aim for a 33% share of the global economy again, so India can reclaim its status as a “Vishwa Guru” or world leader.
