In a major step against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian have seized a double-storey house worth Rs 14.76 lakhs and Rs 6 lakhs in cash from a known drug dealer, Farooq Ahmad Koka, who lives in Melhura Zainapora. This action is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to fight drugs and was done under sections 68-E and 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The seizure is linked to FIR No. 36/2024 at Police Station Zainapora. It was carried out by a police team and an Executive Magistrate to ensure all legal steps were followed. During the investigation, it was found that the property was bought with money made from illegal drug activities.
This move shows the strong commitment of the Shopian Police to tackle the drug problem in the area. Local people have praised the authorities for their firm action, seeing it as a strong warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade.
