Mumbai: Actor Saif Ali Khan has been moved from intensive care to a special room at Lilavati Hospital after being injured in a violent attack. Hospital officials said on Friday that he is now stable and feeling good.
Niraj Uttamani, the Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, shared, “We moved Saif to a special room around noon today. He is out of danger and is cheerful. We expect to discharge him in the next two to three days.”
Khan had surgery for over five hours on Thursday to remove a broken piece of a knife and to treat his injuries. The hospital team worked quickly to stabilize him before the surgery. The operation started at 5 AM and finished at 10:30 AM.
Uttamani explained that Khan had six wounds: two were deep, two were moderate, and two were minor. One serious injury was to his thoracic spinal cord, where the knife got stuck. The doctors removed the knife and fixed a leak in his spinal fluid. A plastic surgery team also treated two deep wounds on his left hand and neck.
Because Khan has a pre-existing health condition, cardiologist Dr. Srinivas Kudva monitored him closely during the surgery. The actor, who takes blood thinners, had some bleeding and needed platelet transfusions. Hospital sources said the attack was so severe that the knife broke inside his body, and the broken piece has been given to the police as evidence.
In total, Khan received 20 stitches for his injuries. Hospital officials reported that he can now talk and has met with police to share details about the attack.
As the investigation continues, fans and friends of the actor are relieved to hear that he is recovering well.
