Scottish actor Rory McCann, best known for his role as The Hound in HBO’s Game of Thrones, will take over the role of Baylan Skoll in the second season of the Star Wars series Ahsoka. This change comes after the passing of Ray Stevenson, who originally played the character.
Stevenson, who died in May 2023 after a brief illness, was a fan favorite known for his deep voice and memorable roles in films like Punisher: War Zone, the Thor movies, and the TV series Rome.
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi who teams up with her old apprentice to stop the evil Empire from returning. Baylan Skoll, along with his apprentice Shin Hati, played by Ivanna Sakhno, serves as one of the main obstacles in Ahsoka’s path.
While it’s not yet clear when filming for the new season will begin or who will direct, Dave Filoni, who was the showrunner for the first season, will return for the second.
Rory McCann has recently appeared in Gladiator II and has also been in movies like Hot Fuzz, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and Jumanji: The Next Level. He has lent his voice to the animated series Transformers: EarthSpark and appeared in the Knuckles show for Paramount+.
Fans are excited to see how McCann will bring Baylan Skoll to life in Ahsoka, continuing the character’s story in the Star Wars universe. The anticipation for the second season is growing, promising more adventures in a galaxy far, far away.
