On Monday, Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi stated that the reservation quota should be adjusted based on population proportion. He expressed dissatisfaction with the formation of a cabinet sub-committee but emphasized that what matters most is the satisfaction of students.
Speaking to a crowd outside the chief minister’s residence, Aga Ruhullah said there should be no discrimination in the reservation policy. It should follow the Supreme Court ruling or match the population proportion.
He assured students that their concerns are valid and promised to do everything possible to ensure justice.
“I promised the students I would support them, and today we are here to fight for them. We will speak up for students at every opportunity to achieve positive results. I know the government has listened and formed a cabinet sub-committee, but I am not satisfied unless the students are satisfied,” he said.
“I don’t want any chaos, and I am not here to divide my party. I will seek justice everywhere. But if anyone tries to create chaos in J&K, I will also protest against them,” he added.
Ruhullah thanked PDP leaders, including MLA Pulwama Waheed Parra, Iltija Mufti, and the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), for their support.
