Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated on Friday that the FIR against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi reflects the government’s desperation.
She claimed that the BJP is resorting to distractions because they realize the public will not tolerate their “disrespect” towards B.R. Ambedkar. In her response to the FIR filed against her brother, Priyanka expressed that the BJP government is so frantic that they are issuing false FIRs.
“This demonstrates the government’s desperation. They are lodging baseless FIRs out of sheer urgency. Rahul can never act violently; as his sister, I know him well,” she asserted. “Frankly, the public is aware of this. They see how frantic the BJP has become, resulting in such unfounded charges… These are mere distractions,” she continued.
Priyanka emphasized that the BJP is fearful of the Opposition bringing up the topic of Ambedkar, as their true feelings towards him have been revealed, particularly referencing Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments in the Rajya Sabha.
She remarked, “This government is intimidated. They are reluctant to discuss the Adani issue or engage in any critical conversations. Their genuine attitudes toward Ambedkar have come to light, which frightens them as we are addressing this issue.”
Priyanka also highlighted that the matter of Ambedkar’s disrespect is intrinsically linked to national interest. “National interest is connected to this issue.
Our Constitution, which Ambedkar crafted, represents the people of this country and our struggle for freedom. Such disrespect towards him will not be accepted in India,” she asserted.
The day before, the police registered an FIR against Rahul Gandhi following a complaint by the BJP, which accused him of physical assault and incitement during an altercation on Parliament premises.
