Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan’s main goal in the ICC Champions Trophy is not just to win the tournament but also to beat their biggest rivals, India, in their important match on February 23 in Dubai. At the opening of the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium, Sharif said, “We have a strong team, and India has done well recently, but our main job is to win the Champions Trophy and defeat India. The whole country is supporting them.”
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will happen from February 19 to March 9, with games played in both Pakistan and the UAE. Since India has chosen not to play in Pakistan, all their matches, including the one against Pakistan, will be held in Dubai.
India has often beaten Pakistan in big cricket events, especially in World Cups. However, Pakistan’s most famous win against India was in the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, which makes the upcoming match even more exciting.
The opening ceremony of Gaddafi Stadium celebrated its renovation, which took only 117 days. The event included performances by popular singers like Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, along with fireworks and a light show. Many important guests, including politicians and cricket officials, were there.
With the India-Pakistan match just weeks away, excitement is growing, and tickets for the game sold out very quickly. Sharif’s comments show that the nation has high hopes as Pakistan gets ready for this exciting cricket match. Fans from both sides are looking forward to another thrilling game in this fierce rivalry.
