Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir – In a significant operation, Kulgam Police, in collaboration with the Army (1RR, 1Para(SF)) and the CRPF (18 BN), apprehended three individuals linked to terrorism and recovered a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition. The arrests were made during the investigation of case FIR Number 02/2025 under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ubaid Khursheed Khanday, Maqsood Ahmad Bhat, and Umer Bashir, all residents of Thokerpora Qaimoh in Kulgam. Authorities reported that the suspects were in close contact with active members of the banned terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF). They were allegedly planning to execute significant terrorist activities in the Kulgam district.
During the operation, security forces recovered a total of:
- 2 AK-series rifles
- 8 AK-series magazines
- 217 rounds of AK ammunition
- 5 hand grenades
- 2 magazine pouches
This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Kulgam Police to combat anti-national elements and prevent potential terrorist incidents in the region. A police spokesperson stated, “This operation demonstrates our commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kulgam.
