Kate Beckinsale, a well-known British actress, shared a video online talking about her bad experiences on movie sets. She was responding to news about Blake Lively, who is in a legal fight with director Justin Baldoni over claims of bad behavior.
In her video, Beckinsale said she has been “assaulted” and insulted on film sets. She mentioned being touched inappropriately by someone she trusted when she was 18. When she told other actresses, they didn’t believe her.
Blake Lively has accused Baldoni of inappropriate actions during the making of “It Ends With Us.” Many famous people, like Amy Schumer and Amber Heard, support Lively. Baldoni denies the claims and plans to respond legally.
Beckinsale also talked about being hurt during movie fight scenes and how some actors enjoy hurting women in these scenes. She had medical proof of her injuries but was made to feel like it was her fault.
She described working with a male co-star who caused delays because he couldn’t remember his lines. This kept her from seeing her young daughter. Instead of helping, the studio gave her a bike to ride around while waiting. She was called insulting names during this time.
Beckinsale faced body image pressures too. People openly discussed how to make her look more attractive, leading to strict diets that affected her health. She was once forced to do a photoshoot right after a miscarriage, even though she didn’t want to.
In her message, Beckinsale emphasized that complaining about abuse should not lead to more abuse. She urged both men and women in the industry to help stop such harmful behavior for good.
