President Droupadi Murmu awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to Ayaan Sajad, a talented 12-year-old singer from Kashmir. This award recognizes his great work in Art and Culture. The ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 26, honoring outstanding children from across India.
Ayaan, who lives in Anantnag district, became famous for singing “BeDard Dadi Chane,” a Kashmiri song originally written by poet Shamas Fakeer. His unique voice and style have made him popular online, turning him into a cultural star in Kashmir.
He started by singing at family events and local gatherings. His big break came when RJ Umer, a local radio host, noticed his talent and helped him produce “BeDard Dadi Chane” with a mix of traditional and modern music.
In interviews, Ayaan said he wants to represent Kashmir around the world and inspire young people to appreciate their culture. He dreams of joining Bollywood to share Kashmiri music while also focusing on his studies and preparing for UPSC exams.
Ayaan’s efforts to bring back Kashmiri music have earned him admiration, especially among young people reconnecting with their roots. His songs include “Jaana Janai” and “Go Kiya Malal Yaaras.” Even without formal training, Ayaan’s dedication has made him a leading voice in Kashmiri music. He hopes to preserve and promote Kashmir’s rich traditions, inspiring others to value their heritage.
The award celebrates achievements in areas like innovation, social service, academics, sports, bravery, and art. Ayaan has become a shining example, winning hearts with his commitment to art and culture.
At the award ceremony in New Delhi, Ayaan and his family felt proud. In front of important guests and other winners, Ayaan received the honor from the President of India, who praised the young achievers.
After getting the award, Ayaan said, “This award is a dream come true for me. It motivates me to work harder to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir through my art. I dedicate this recognition to my parents, mentors, and all those who believed in me and encouraged me to follow my passion. I hope my journey inspires other young artists to pursue their dreams and never give up.”
He also talked about how art brings people together, saying, “Art is a universal language that connects hearts and minds. Through my work, I want to showcase the beauty and diversity of Jammu and Kashmir to the world and remind everyone of the importance of preserving our cultural identity.”
