Pahalgam – The Jammu and Kashmir government announced on Thursday that it has issued 269 notices for construction deviations in areas governed by the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA). This information was revealed in a written response to a question posed by MLA Pulwama, Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, during a recent assembly session.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the Minister for Tourism, confirmed that these notices were issued based on permissions given by the Building Operations Controlling Authority (BOCA). He noted that many of these notices are related to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and homes built by local residents within the PDA’s area.
“The Pahalgam Development Authority is responsible for keeping an eye on illegal and unauthorized constructions in its area. The authority will carry out demolition drives when necessary,” Abdullah said.
This announcement comes as concerns grow about unauthorized construction in Pahalgam, a popular tourist spot known for its beautiful scenery. The government aims to ensure that all buildings follow the rules to protect the environment and the area’s heritage.
The PDA is working to maintain Pahalgam’s natural beauty while also considering the needs of local residents and the tourism industry. By issuing these notices, the government hopes to prevent further violations and encourage responsible development in the region.
As the situation unfolds, the government plans to keep monitoring construction activities in Pahalgam to ensure it remains a sustainable and attractive place for both locals and visitors.
