In a significant move aimed at preserving the integrity of educational institutions, the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has issued a directive prohibiting all officers and heads of institutions from allowing students and staff, including teachers, to participate in political programs or rallies organized by political parties or organizations. This decision is part of Circular No. 01-JK(Edu) of 2025, issued on January 25, 2025.
This rule applies to all schools in Jammu and Kashmir. It requires Chief Education Officers (CEOs), Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and school heads to make sure that no one in their schools gets involved in political activities. The department wants to keep schools free from political influence so that students can focus on their education.
The circular also tells CEOs to keep a close watch and ensure that no local authority goes against these guidelines. If any school does not follow the rules, the CEO must report it to the Director of School Education right away.
The Directors of School Education have been instructed to enforce this rule strictly. They have warned that any violations will be taken seriously and dealt with according to the law. The main goal of this directive is to keep schools neutral and focused on providing quality education to students.
This order has been shared with all relevant officials, including the Directors of School Education for both the Kashmir and Jammu regions, as well as Chief Education Officers and other staff in the department. This step shows the department’s commitment to creating a learning environment that is free from political distractions, allowing students to concentrate on their studies.
