The Crime Branch (CB) has arrested six people, including an employee from J&K Bank, for cheating 15 job seekers out of Rs. 1.34 crore. They promised these people jobs in the Territorial Army and J&K Bank but never delivered.
The investigation started after two complaints were made. In the first case, Jugal Kumar and Gopal Chand from Samba were approached by Tarsem Singh and Balbir Singh, who said they could get them jobs in the Territorial Army. The victims paid large amounts of money through cheques, online transfers, and cash. The accused gave them fake job letters with forged signatures and stamps. When the victims tried to join the army, they found out they had been scammed, and the fraudsters still had their original documents, which they refused to return. Each person lost about Rs. 9 lakh.
In another case, Sahil Choudhary from Rajouri said that Sunny Sharma and Bisharat Hussain Mirza promised him a permanent job at J&K Bank for Rs. 8 lakh. They introduced him to bank employees Majid Ali and Imran Tantray, who told him to transfer Rs. 7.90 lakh into their accounts. After he paid, Majid Ali gave him a fake job order. When Choudhary tried to join the bank, he learned that the job order was not real.
The Crime Branch has opened two cases, called FIR No. 07/2025 and FIR No. 08/2025, and is investigating further. They are working to find out more about the scam and help the victims get justice.
This situation is a reminder for everyone to be careful about job offers, especially in a tough job market. The Crime Branch advises people to check job offers carefully, especially if they ask for money upfront.
