Jammu, 10 March – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah spoke in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday, saying that the state government had no part in organizing the recent fashion show at Gulmarg. He explained that the event was a private function held at a private hotel and did not use any government resources.
Abdullah mentioned that the administration has been asked to look into whether the organizers broke any laws. “If any violations have occurred, the matter should be handed over to the police,” he said.
He also questioned why the Leader of the Opposition, Sunil Sharma, was allowed to visit Kathua while the Deputy Chief Minister was not given permission. “If the situation was so bad in Kathua, why was the Leader of the Opposition allowed to visit while the Deputy Chief Minister was denied permission?” he asked, pointing out the inconsistency in the government’s decisions.
The Chief Minister’s comments aim to clarify the government’s position on the fashion show and address the political issues surrounding recent events in the region. As the investigation into the fashion show continues, Abdullah’s statements show a commitment to transparency and accountability.
The situation in Kathua remains a topic of discussion, and Abdullah’s remarks highlight the challenges of governance and political permissions in Jammu and Kashmir. More updates are expected as the Assembly session continues.
