The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against Sumeet Khajuria, a chief engineer at Konkan Railways, for allegedly taking bribes to help a construction company get paid faster. This case is linked to the Katara-Dharam section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project.
Khajuria, who has been an engineer since 2005, is named in a report along with the company Paras Railtech Private Limited and its directors—Rajesh Kumar Jain, Pushp Raj Singh, and Sulabh Rawat. They are facing serious charges related to corruption.
Officials say that Khajuria and the company’s directors were involved in dishonest activities, like approving unpaid bills and changing costs for removing dirt from tunnels. This railway project is important for improving travel in the area, but these bribery claims could hurt its reputation.
The CBI is committed to fighting corruption in government projects, especially those that use public money. As the investigation continues, it will be interesting to see what new information comes to light and how it might affect the railway project.
The CBI is also encouraging anyone with more information about the case to come forward to help ensure fairness and transparency in public works.
