Budgam 2 March: In a strong effort to fight drug problems, Budgam Police have arrested a local drug dealer in the Magam area and seized illegal drugs from him.
A police team led by Head Constable Ghulam Mohi-ud-din was checking vehicles at Aripanthan when they noticed a suspicious person trying to run away. The police quickly caught him and found three sticks of a substance similar to charas, wrapped in corn husk, weighing about 61 grams. The suspect was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, from Saranhal Batpora, Budgam.
Ganie was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Magam. The police are now investigating to find out more about his activities and any connections to larger drug networks.
