Awantipora Feb 26: Police Station Khrew has taken a big step towards digital policing by registering its first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) after receiving a complaint via email.
The complaint was made by Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, who lives in New Colony Khrew. He accused two local residents, Adil Ahmad Bhat and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, of assaulting his entire family and causing them injuries.
To support his complaint, Bhat provided an Outpatient Department (OPD) ticket from the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Khrew and a copy of his Aadhaar card as proof.
After reviewing the complaint, the police registered the e-FIR, which is recorded as Case FIR No. 17/2025, under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Khrew.
This new process makes it easier for people to file complaints and helps the police handle cases more efficiently. The use of electronic FIRs is expected to build more trust between the community and the police.
