Awantipora, 23 January – The Awantipora Police have arrested two men for drug dealing as part of their ongoing fight against drugs. The arrests happened during a routine vehicle check at Chersoo Crossing.
A police team from the Police Post Toll Plaza, led by Sub Inspector Muneer Ahmad and supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Awantipora, stopped a load carrier vehicle for inspection. When they searched the vehicle, they found 1.2 kilograms of a substance that looked like grinded cannabis with the two men inside.
The arrested individuals are Arshid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, and Shakir Ahmad Ganie, son of Fayaz Ahmad Ganie. Both are from Gulshanabad, Rajpora Pulwama. The police also seized the vehicle, which has the registration number JK13H-8415.
A case has been registered at the Police Station Awantipora under FIR Number 16/2025, following the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are continuing their investigation to tackle drug-related issues in the area and keep the community safe.
