Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated the senior men’s cricket team after they won against the defending champions, Mumbai, in a Ranji Trophy match on Saturday. The J&K team won by five wickets, marking the second time they have defeated the 42-time champions on their home ground.

The victory was made possible by the excellent performance of J&K’s fast bowlers, Umar Nazir Mir, Auqib Nabi, and Yudhvir Singh, who took a total of 19 wickets from the Mumbai team. This strong bowling performance helped J&K chase down the target of 205 runs with ease.

In a message on his official social media account, Chief Minister Abdullah praised the team, saying, “What a brilliant achievement by the J&K Ranji Trophy team. To defeat the defending champions, and that too in their own backyard, is a memorable achievement. I send my congratulations to the players, the management, and support staff. We are all very proud of you.”

This win highlights the growing strength of the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team and serves as an inspiration for young cricketers in the region. Their success in such an important tournament shows their potential and determination to compete at high levels in Indian cricket.
