A Delhi Court granted former JNU scholar Umar Khalid interim bail in relation to the UAPA case concerning a broader conspiracy connected to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.

Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of the Karkardooma Courts allowed Khalid to be out on bail for seven days so he can attend a family wedding. The conditions of the interim bail require Khalid not to communicate with any witnesses or individuals associated with the case and to refrain from using social media during this period.

He is only permitted to meet family, relatives, and friends, and must stay at home or at the venues of the wedding ceremonies. Khalid is required to report back to the concerned Jail Superintendent by the evening of January 3, 2025.
