4 young Rohingya girls, who were rescued from a human trafficking ring six months ago, have gone missing from a shelter home in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir. The girls were reported missing on January 25, and the police were immediately informed.
Officials said that CCTV footage showed the girls escaping from the back of the shelter home around 3 a.m. on January 25. A senior officer from the shelter home confirmed that the girls had been living there for the past six months.
The four girls, originally from Myanmar, were rescued in July last year when police broke up a human trafficking operation in the Ushkura area of Baramulla.
Authorities are now working to find the missing girls and ensure their safety. This incident raises concerns about the security at the shelter home and the ongoing struggles faced by vulnerable groups like the Rohingya community.
